    Mothers Ruin?

Here at the Parenting Phil’s we love a gin and tonic… as you might have guessed this from our last video and from a few insta posts, and from a few other blogs… OK we talk about G&T fairly regularly! And whilst there’s absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a relaxing beverage on an evening after a long day of playing referee, chef, bottom-wiper and ‘Daddy Robot’ (don’t ask), it’s important to recognise when you might be having one too many. This week in the UK it’s Alcohol Awareness Week, a good time to take a step back and reflect on your booze intake and ask yourself  ‘Am I meeting all my daily…

    Guest Post: Motherhood & Epilepsy

On Friday 19th October 2018, a new National ‘Tea Break’ campaign for Epilepsy Action launches, so we invited a good friend of ours, Rachael, to come and tell us about living with epilepsy and being a great mum to her gorgeous daughter, Erin. Motherhood & Epilepsy by Rachael  Hi, my name is Rachael and I’m an Epileptic! It sounds weird and sometimes I wish I was saying alcoholic as with epilepsy it is completely out of my control. Tamanu Balm by Tropic

Tropic Ambassador (and lovely neighbour of mine), Louise, kindly sent me over a little pot of magic called Tamanu Balm to try out with the kids. Knowing that I had three year old twin boys in the house, I think Louise might have assumed we have lots of bumps, scrapes, splinters, bruises, rashes… and she assumed correctly!  The balm comes with quite an extensive list of ailments that Tropic believe it is great for and the menu also claims that it is an ‘all-in-one skin saviour’. It retails at £16 for a small pot, so at that price I thought I’d give it a proper run for it’s money over…

The Brown Stuff (and I’m not talking about chocolate!)

I’m going to start this blog with an apology… because I am about to spend the next 700 words or so on the subject of ‘POO’… and not just poo… but Toddler Diarrhoea… in twins! Yes people it’s a real thing and I have it twice over and coming at me from every direction! So, needless to say, read on at your own peril! We were aware of the boys diagnosis of Toddler Diarrhoea from the word go, the foster carer had given us plenty of warning about the smell but she did fail to mention the volume and frequency… which I think are pretty important details to know when…

    Gym Time, Means Me Time

As a mum to two young boys, finding time for yourself is very hard, or near on none existent. By the time you’ve sorted the kids, cleaned the house, done the washing and if you’re a real super mum, gone out for a few hours, the day has gone, and then its tea, bath and bed time. So, when all that’s done I am far too tired to even think about what I would like, need or do with myself. So, my appearance has taken a massive nose dive these last few years. Yummy mummy I am not! Overweight, from finishing the boy’s food off, as well as my own…
